　　日本のヒップホップの歴史を語る時、『伝説』としてとりあげられ、カミナリを始めとする多くの著名なMC/DJを輩出したパーティー「BLACK MONDAY ’94」．

　しかし実際に「BLACK MONDAY '94」が有名になったのは、その出演者達が96年の「さんピンキャンプ」「亜熱帯雨林」「鬼だまり」などのライブ、YOU THE ROCKのラジオ番組「ヒップホップ・ナイトフライト」、あるいは雷メンバー総出演のクラッシック、ランプアイ『証言』などでブレイクして以降のことだ。

　音楽業界の自称ヒップホップ通がこのパーティーのことをよく知っているかのように彼方此方で語ったり、書いたりしてた場合、その多くは噂やメディアにのった二次情報の受け売りでしかなかった．彼等は実際にこのパーティーに来たこともなければ、当時はその存在すら知らなかったはずだ。（当時出演メンバーが連載を持っていたremix誌を除く）

　何故ならば、当時の現実は甘いものではなかったからだ．「BLACK MONDAY ’94」にやってくるのはMC/DJ達と、その仲間がほとんどで、身内以外で入場料を払ってくる客はほとんどいなかった。
　94年春に始まって、翌年明けにはクラブZOAがクローズしてしまい、１年とたたないうちにパーティーは終わってしまった。

　今では想像すらしにくいだろうが、94年当時、渋谷の輸入レコード店のヒップホップコーナーは新譜の１２”を５枚紹介できるスペースだけだった。レコード会社はラップに見切りをつけ、レゲエやアシッドジャズに乗り換えていた．当時、日本のヒップホップは演ってる人間以外は誰も見向きもしなかった本当にアンダーグラウンドな存在だった．

　そんな中、ニューヨークと時差のない最新のヒップホップ12"がかかり、度胸さえあれば誰でも腕試しができるオープンマイクのMCバトルが繰り広げられていた「BLACK MONDAY '94」は、東京でもっともヒップホップな『現場』だった。
　常連達にとってそこは何かワクワクするようなハプニングが起こることが期待できる滅多にない場で、滅多にその期待は裏切られることはなかった。

　「BLACK MONDAY '94」の常連メンバー達は、夢中でそこで何かが起きる瞬間を逃すまいとして、そして何かを掴んで、いつしか自分からアクションを起こすようになっていった。実際、ヒップホップで「現場主義」ということが言われだしたのもこのパーティーが最初だった。
　本当に重要なことは、難しく考え込んだりする以前に、その場でヴァイブスを直に体感する事だった。

90年代後半はノートリアスB.I.G.などのブレイクをきっかけにNYヒップホップがポピュラーになっていった時代。それに飽き足らないハードコアなファンはヒップホップ本来のD.I.Y.(Do It Yourself)精神を継承して独自の活動を始め、現在のアンダーグラウンド・ヒップホップ・シーンにもつながる新たなアンダーグラウンドのマーケットを確立しつつあった。
カレッジラジオ局WKCRで放送されていたストレッチ＆ボビートによるミックスショウと、ヴァイナル専門店のFAT BEATSやBEAT STREETなどで売られるインディーズ12”シングルを唯一の媒体にしていただけなのにも関わらず世界中の熱心なヒップホップファンに支持され、急速に発展していた。

こうしたNYアンダーグラウンド・ヒップホップのムーブメントに触発されて、1996年当時ニューヨークに住んでいた BentheAceが自ら始めたのがインディーズ・レーベル SPELLBOUND Record だった。ここからはツイギーの「ミラーボール」やムロの「第3段落97ページ」などの日本語ラップ・クラシックスをリリースしたが、BentheAceによれば、「自分もそのムーブメントの一部という意識があってヒップホップに向かっていた。」

ジェイさんの曲のタイトルにもなっていた「ブルー・マジック」について

はっきり言ってアメリカの映画公開時の資料をそのまま日本語にすればすむ話なのだが、これまでは映画の宣伝担当者が理解できないのか、ブラックムービーやヒップホップムービーでは、映画とは関係のない音楽ライターなどに丸投げするか、芸能人崩れのラッパーやR＆Bシンガーの絶賛コメントをとってお茶を濁してばかりだったから。

もっとも、この映画は大作だし、ジェイZのアルバムの話題性で効いてるのだろう。

12/4はジェイZさんの誕生日ということで、ヤング・クリスとミック・ブギーがトリビュートミックスをリリース。ミック・ブギーの勢いは止らない。

　今年のプロモーションのトレンドとしては、単に最新音源をリークさせるだけじゃなくて、ミックステープをフリーダウンロードというのが主流。DJ DRAMAの一件以来、ミックスCDの販売というのはニューヨークのキャナル・ストリートですら全くなくなってしまったそうで、フリーダウンロードにいち早く踏み切っていたミック・ブギーがミックステープDJのゲームを一歩リードしてるのもそういう流れからのよう。

　もともと９０年代初期のNYCのシーンでのメジャーのミックステープの関わりでは、DJが自らブートレッグ的に流通させるテープに最新音源を提供するのとは別に、メジャーレーベルがDJに依頼して作成された２０分くらいのレーベルプロモーション用のミックステープをクラブやイベント会場で「ストリートプロモーション」と称してタダで配っていたりしてたので、その形に近い感じがする。

ナスの次のアルバムのタイトル『Nigger(ニガー）』について、
　アートと、差別的な意図での発言とは区別されるべきで、
一度、禁止用語を決めてみたところでそれはさらなる言葉狩りにつながっていくだけ、と。
　ニガーという言葉を禁じるということは、その言葉が表す現実世界での対象、その言葉が持っている差別的な行為／意識をおおい隠すことであり、そのことについて考えさせることを出来なくすることにつながる、
というようなことを言ってる。

LLは、『HipHop is Dead』の時の反響に言及、ナスの話題作りの巧みさを指摘。

　ジガは『ニガー』を支持すると。
ヒップホップとメインストリームの文化衝突という感じなんだけど、
何故、今なのか、どうしてNasだけがターゲットになっているのか、ということに意味があるような気がする。

戦争、暴力、公民権運動、そしてヒップホップ、ハリケーン・カトリーナから人種差別政策まで、マイケル・エリック・ダイソン教授は一手に引き受けます。この14年間に14冊の著作を出し、いずれもベストセラー。黒人向け月刊誌の米『エボニー』誌は、「最も影響力のあるアフリカ系アメリカ人100人」のひとりに彼を選出しています。ダイソン教授はつい最近、ジョージタウン大学の最高位の教授職に就任しました。バプテスト派の牧師の資格も持ち、アフリカン・アメリカン研究と並んで神学も教えています。最新、ヒップホップ論を出版しました。

番組前半では、ラジオトークショー・ホストのドン・アイムスによる差別発言事件、ジーナ高校の黒人生徒訴追事件、ハリケーン・カトリーナ後の人災など、最近の社会問題についてコメント。後半ではヒップホップという芸術様式における政治性、そのレトリックがいかに鋭く社会状況を反映しているかを、具体例を挙げて語ります。

米国では｢ニガー｣はタブー語となり、N-wordという婉曲表現が用いられています。この語の使用の根絶しようとするNAACP(全米有色人種地位向上協会)に対し、ダイソンは差別語そのものを葬っても無駄だと反論。黒人が仲間に「ニガー」と呼びかける例を示し、彼らは白人からN-wordを取り上げて、自分達の手で新たな意味を付与し、親愛の情を示す言葉に変えたのだとダイソンは指摘します。言葉には変遷があり、ときには実害をもたらしますが、逆手にとれば反撃の手段ともなりうるのです。

白人生徒との喧嘩で殺人未遂に問われた「ジーナの6人」の司法制度を通じたリンチに等しい事件については、肌の色の濃い者たちが不当に重い刑罰を科され、長期にわたる服役を強いられている現状を激しく非難しています。アブグレイブ刑務所で行なわれた虐待は、国内の刑務所における人権侵害と直接つながっていることも指摘。

政治意識の高い若手によるコンシャス・ラップは社会の現実をストリートの視点から伝えようとするきわめて批判的で洞察に満ちたラップの下位ジャンルであり、ダイソンは彼らの試みを民俗学者による社会風俗の研究にたとえています。しかし、耳に痛い真実を語る彼らの自省的な声が、セクシーで挑発的な曲を好むレコード産業や放送局によって流されることはめったにありません。母子家庭が多く、　男性の多くが入獄体験を持つ黒人社会を鋭くとらえる一方で、彼らの歌詞にはヒップホップ文化の女性憎悪も色濃く反映されています。「自分を生んだ女は素晴らしいが、わが子を生む女は忌まわしい」というひどい矛盾を抱えるヒップホップ界の男性達。

番組の最後には獄中の死刑囚ムミア・アブー=ジャマールが、ヒップホップの世界的な影響を語ります。アメリカ黒人のあいだで生まれた芸術形式が海を渡り、新たに根付いたそれぞれの社会で抑圧に抗議する手段となり、いまでは世界中の言語で、人種問題や差別や貧困に抗議していると、ムミアは指摘しています。
